1.What are the benefits of living in a smaller town in Canada?

There are so many incredible benefits to living in one of Canada’s smaller and rural communities. Overall living expenses are cheaper — specifically, living costs, food costs and transportation costs, and residents have more disposable income to pocket at the end of each year.

Community wise, there is a welcoming sense of community in smaller towns. In addition to beautiful landscapes and breath-taking scenery, smaller towns offer a greater environment to spur innovation, foster new skills and feel part of a community.

Smaller communities are also wholesome places to raise a family and begin a new journey of integrating into Canadian culture. They offer the same Canadian feel as bigger cities, however have access to more experiences, such as ice skating in the park, apple picking in the fall, and swimming in one of the many lakes located in the North.

2. Are there any resources available to help me when I’m in Canada?

There are many resources available to newcomers to Canada — both nationally and locally. Each community has a settlement service, or access to a settlement service that will help with your integration. These services are important tools that provide a wide range of referrals and resources, such as:
