Performing routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other equipment used in metal recycling operations
Identifying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implement effective repair solutions
Following established maintenance schedules to perform regular servicing, fluid changes, lubrication, and component replacements
Conducting major and minor repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system replacements, and hydraulic system troubleshooting
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, parts usage, and equipment history in compliance with regulatory requirements
Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices in the shop and field environments
Coordinating with the Parts Department to order necessary parts, track inventory levels, and ensure the availability of required components for repairs and maintenance
Skills, experience and education required:
Experience as a Truck Mechanic, preferably in a heavy-duty trucking or maintenance environment.
Proven experience working on heavy-duty trucks, equipment components, engines, and transmissions.
Familiarity with Peterbilt, Kenworth, Cummins engines, Scania, MAN, and DAF trucks.
Ability to perform stick and/or MIG welding.
Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and equipment components, including engines, transmissions and diagnosis
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and workload
Experience in the metal recycling industry is an asset
