Key Responsibilities
The Senior Mining Engineer – Scheduling will:
 

  • Scheduling and Mine Planning
– Develop, maintain, and optimize weekly and 3-month execution schedules
– Support the development of rolling 12- and 18-month production schedules
– Contribute to the preparation and updating of Life of Mine (LOM) schedules aligned with MRMR updates
– Assist in annual planning cycles, including schedule preparation and validation
– Review schedules to ensure alignment with production, development, and sequencing targets
– Identify and implement opportunities for schedule optimization and planning improvements

 

  • Execution Support & Operational Integration
– Work closely with Mine Dispatch and Operations to support schedule adherence
– Provide input on prioritization, sequencing, and constraint resolution
– Support schedule adjustments to maintain production targets
– Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure schedules are achievable
– Participate in planning and coordination meetings to address execution risks
– Communicate scheduling risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities

 

  • Performance Tracking & Reporting
– Track and analyze cycle times, productivity metrics, and schedule adherence
– Support variance analysis (planned vs. actual) and identify key drivers
– Provide data and insights to support mid- and long-term planning
– Assist with budget physicals and forecasting inputs

 

  • Technical Contribution & Mentorship
– Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and EITs
– Support development of planning standards, tools, and best practices
– Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in scheduling processes and systems

 
Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years of underground mining experience, with strong exposure to scheduling
  • Experience with short- and medium-term scheduling and execution planning
  • Proficiency in mine scheduling software (e.g., Deswik, or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and technical teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • P.Eng. or eligibility for registration is preferred

 
Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 (adjustable based on experience)
  • Pension / RRSP
  • Vacation: 3 weeks
