Trailer Mechanic

Position Summary

Diagnoses and completes repairs and/or services on heavy duty/commercial trailers while ensuring quality workmanship and working as a member of a strong team.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and services heavy-duty and commercial trailers.
  • Conducts minor repairs and service on heavy-duty trucks.
  • Determines vehicle/unit problems and recommends repair or replacement of parts.
  • Conducts safe operations with all equipment and tools.
  • Writes job reports, work order summaries, and conducts other record-keeping functions.
  • Meets scheduled demands while maintaining a high level of quality and safety.
  • Maintains a clean and tidy workspace.
  • Participates and keeps training up to date.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Trailer Mechanic certificate.
  • 5+ years’ experience completing repairs on heavy-duty/commercial trailers.
  • Experience using computer diagnostic tools. Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
  • Planning and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn in-house program.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Able to bend, lift, twist – moderate lifting.
  • Positive attitude and a team player.
  • Strong commitment to the customer.
