Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair heavy mining equipment and ancillary equipment used in open-pit mining, such as shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
Identify and report risks, near misses and incidents with the goal of supporting and developing excellent safety standards.
Respond to mechanical issues in the maintenance shop and the field.
Use hand tools (e.g. Wrenches, screwdrivers), air and impact tools (e.g. Wrenches, drills), sledgehammers and hydraulic torque equipment.
Operate materials handling equipment (e.g., Hydraulic jacks and hoists, chains, overhead cranes, slings, come-a-longs), ladders, man-lifts, safety harnesses and lanyards, forklifts, small loaders, and trucks to access field repairs.
Skills, experience and education required:
Minimum 4 years of work experience repairing haul trucks, shovels, excavators and other heavy equipment in the mining industry.
Experience with OEM troubleshooting guides and systems.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to work in the shop and field
Understanding mining processes and mine monitoring control systems (operations and maintenance).
Good English communication skills both oral and written.
Knowledge of computer maintenance systems.
Experience creating parts lists from OEM web-based systems such as Caterpillar SIS preferred.
Red Seal Certification (Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) is preferred.
