Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
Operating hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment.
Assembling machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
Skills, experience and education required:
Experience working safely in a heavy industrial setting.
Experience in heavy industry mining and melt shops.
Experience working on 8000 HP motors.
Understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Shredder experience is an asset.
Job requires working indoors, outdoors, exposure to the elements
Proficient in welding and torch cutting a must.
Able to conduct and complete scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks and checklists
Able to complete work orders and ensure any parts that are used are documented for reordering.
Eager to learn the proper operation and diagnostic capabilities of state-of-the-art equipment.
Able to work independently and stay focused and on-task.
Able to prioritize urgency based on production requirements.
Able to stay on task past regular scheduled hours to ensure completion.
