In this role, you will contribute your expertise in electric motor rewinding and electromechanical repair, supporting the performance and longevity of critical equipment used in demanding industrial environments. Your work will directly support quality, safety, and operational efficiency for clients across construction, mining, and related industries.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the team leader, the Winder manually winds various electromechanical equipment, including alternating current and direct current motors.
– Wind, assemble, and install various types of coils
– Test and adjust repaired products for proper functioning
– Read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings
– Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
– Assemble stators or armatures for heavy-duty electric motors
– Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators, and other components
– Test, repair, or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
– Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear, and other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
Qualifications
– 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Winder
– Experience with coil winding, form coil winding, and AC/DC motor rewinding
– Strong understanding of basic electrical principles
– High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail
– Reliable, organized, and safety-conscious
Education
– Completion of secondary school
– Vocational training or industry-related courses in electrical or motor repair are considered an asset
Compensation & Benefits
– $36.00 per hour
– Overtime paid in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA)
