Job Description
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical components including engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems for a wide variety of maintenance equipment.
- Perform both shop and field repairs on trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation at all times.
- Service electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and CAN BUS systems, identifying faults and implementing effective solutions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, component adjustments, and system inspections to support equipment reliability.
- Install, adjust, repair, or replace major components of commercial transport trucks, including chassis, frames, bodies, drive trains, air brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
- Troubleshoot operational issues on equipment such as plows, spreaders, loaders, graders, sweepers, and mowers.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergency service calls, ensuring continuous operational readiness.
- Accurately document repair work, parts usage, and service activities in compliance with operational requirements.
- Follow rigorous safety standards to protect yourself, your team, and the public while working with heavy-duty commercial and maintenance equipment.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in truck or heavy equipment maintenance; experience with highway or fleet operations is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of diagnostics, preventive maintenance programs, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and computer-controlled components.
- Familiarity with CAN BUS systems, fabrication, or welding is considered an asset.
- Truck & Coach Technician License or Red Seal certification preferred; candidates without certification must be prepared to begin the assessment process.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and efficiently in dynamic and time-sensitive operational environments.
