Position: Instrumentation Technician
Location: Northern Ontario
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and control systems used in mining and mineral processing operations
  • Maintain and repair field instruments including pressure, flow, level, and temperature transmitters
  • Service and calibrate control valves, actuators, and analyzers used in process and utility systems
  • Support maintenance of hoist control systems, dewatering pumps, ventilation fans, and mill process circuits
  • Perform preventive maintenance and functional testing to ensure reliability and safety of automation systems
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and control system documentation
  • Work with PLCs, distributed control systems (DCS), and industrial communication networks to troubleshoot and optimize performance
  • Collaborate with engineers and maintenance teams to identify control issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain detailed calibration logs, maintenance records, and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Follow all provincial and company safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and confined space protocols

Job Requirements

  • Completion of a college diploma or apprenticeship in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technologyor Industrial Instrumentation
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial environments
  • Strong understanding of process control systems, sensors, and automation components
  • Experience using test and calibration equipment such as multimeters, loop calibrators, and HART communicators
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)considered an asset
  • Knowledge of CSA electrical codes, mining safety regulations, and OH&S standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel to remote mine sites as required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Salary Range
CAD $30 – $45 per hour
